NUST and MAAUN Sign MoU to Strengthen Research, Innovation, and Student exchange
Nile University of Science and Technology (NUST), Somalia, and Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing research, innovation, and academic excellence through stronger institutional collaboration.
The virtual engagement brought together the leadership of both universities and focused on expanding cooperation in research, staff development, student exchange. The agreement covers key areas including the exchange of faculty members, researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students, academic publications, joint research projects, and scholarship opportunities.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, highlighted the university’s commitment to building strategic partnerships with institutions across the globe. He noted that MAAUN is recognized as one of Nigeria’s leading private universities, dedicated to academic excellence, innovation, and sustainable development.
The Vice-Chancellor of NUST welcomed participants and expressed appreciation to MAAUN for facilitating the partnership. He described the MoU as an important milestone in strengthening higher education collaboration and promoting knowledge sharing across Africa.
During his presentation, Dr. Mumin Jafar provided an overview of NUST, noting that the university was established in 2017 and continues to expand its academic and research activities. He thanked the MAAUN leadership and management team for their warm reception and openness toward building a long-term partnership.
The Vice President Administration of MAAUN, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, emphasized the importance of strategic collaborations in creating opportunities, developing human capital, and promoting academic excellence. He stated that the partnership would contribute significantly to staff development, student empowerment, and institutional growth.
Also speaking, the Head of the International Office, Engr. Bashir Garba, called for the timely implementation of the provisions of the MoU to ensure that both institutions fully benefit from the partnership. In addition, Mrs. Janvhi expressed appreciation for the collaboration and encouraged future physical engagements between the two universities to further strengthen the relationship and transform the agreement into practical outcomes.
The MoU reflects the shared commitment of NUST and MAAUN to advancing research, innovation, academic excellence, and international cooperation while creating new opportunities for students, researchers, and faculty members in both institutions.
